About me

Hi, my name is Phillip Stratton.

I’m a London based psychotherapist and I’m passionate about supporting people to better understand themselves, feel more emotionally balanced, and create positive change in their lives.

As someone who is both English and Peruvian, I bring a personal understanding of identity, difference, and cultural diversity. This helps me work thoughtfully with the multicultural experiences that are such an important part of life in London. I also speak both English and Spanish fluently, and can offer therapy in either language.

Therapy with me is a collaborative and thoughtful process, where we take time to explore what has shaped you and what you need now, at your own pace.

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches so that our work can be tailored to you as an individual. These include psychodynamic psychotherapy, trauma-informed therapy, psychodrama, play-based approaches, mindfulness, and systemic work. You don’t need to know anything about these models; what matters is that we find a way of working that feels safe, meaningful, and helpful for you.

Training and Qualifications

Bachelors: I hold a degree in Psychology and have completed additional training in relational and developmental approaches.

Masters: I trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, widely known as the home of British psychotherapy, specialising in psychodynamic psychotherapy with children, young people and families.

Accreditation: I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

I have a deep respect and curiosity for human diversity in all its forms. My practice warmly welcomes people of all backgrounds, identities, and orientations. Whether you feel we may have a lot in common or very little, I aim to offer a space where you can feel accepted, heard, and valued exactly as you are. I genuinely look forward to meeting you.

Children and Adolescent

I offer psychodynamic psychotherapy for children and adolescents aged 4 to 25, supporting a wide range of emotional and behavioural difficulties including anxiety, low mood, school avoidance, relationship challenges and the impact of trauma.

My work provides a safe and consistent space where young people can begin to understand their experiences, express themselves more freely, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

Parent Work

Supporting a child means supporting the relationships around them. I work closely with parents and carers to help make sense of their child’s emotional world.

This might include:

  • Understanding difficult behaviours in a new way

  • Thinking about patterns within family relationships

  • Finding more effective ways of responding to emotional distress

The aim is not to “fix” parenting, but to create a space where you feel supported, understood and more confident in your role.

Adult Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is not about quick fixes, but about developing a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences. Together, we may explore:
• Recurring patterns in relationships or ways of thinking
• Emotional responses that feel overwhelming or difficult to manage
• How past experiences may be shaping present difficulties

The aim is to support you in making sense of your inner world, so that change feels more meaningful, lasting, and grounded in who you are.

My Approach can help with issues including but not limited to:

My experience sits at the intersection of psychotherapy, developmental understanding and real-world practice. Alongside deeper psychodynamic work, I have extensive experience supporting difficulties that can present through behaviour, emotional dysregulation, school distress, trauma responses and relationship struggles.

Some specifics are:

anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and the lasting impact of past experiences. as well as having experience with ADHD and ASD.
